DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Master Bedroom
The first-floor Master Bedroom with wooden floors has a romantic four-poster king bed and its own large-screen LED TV with OTT programming. Wide French doors open out onto a west-facing balcony that is also accessible from the master bedroom.
The bedroom is framed on two sides by the glass-paned green surroundings. With its high-vaulted ceiling and Mangalore tiles, this is truly a lovely and special place to sleep in and to wake up to.
Courtyard
As you move clockwise around the courtyard, you pass two bedrooms and a powder room. At the rear of the courtyard is the dining room and western kitchen — a classical Chettinad way of laying out spaces.
Three sets of French doors lead to the rear verandah, lawns and the swimming pool. Going anticlockwise, you will also notice a chess nook and an entrance to a third bedroom.
Dining Room
The two sets of French doors in the air-conditioned dining room let in a lot of natural light and open to the verandah on one side and the swimming pool on the other. The contemporary wooden bar cabinet awaits your parties and entertainment, as you dig into a banana leaf meal on the 8-seater dining table.
Living Room
The informal living room has a rattan swing and colourful sofas — perfect for lounging. Once it gets dark, wooden blinds come down to create temporary walls, transforming the space into an air-conditioned TV room where you can enjoy a cinematic experience with the 4K projector and giant screen.
Mezzanine
The mezzanine looks over the formal living space. A wide, covered deck and terrace look out to paddy fields and palms. You can also access the west-facing balcony connected to the master bedroom.
Yellow and Red Bedrooms
These two enormous rooms, with their colour-themed Athangudi tiles, are air-conditioned and have king beds, beautiful linen and luxurious contemporary bathrooms. The cushions on the seating areas match each room’s colour theming.
Blue Bedroom
This room is smaller, ideal for teenagers or a senior traveller.
Formal Living Room
The formal living room with comfortable seating is directly inside the entrance to The Palmyrah.
Lawns
In front of the house and at the rear are two lawn areas. These are ideal locations for garden lunches or picnics in the cooler months. The villa staff can set up the garden furniture for your picnic if you would like.
