The Nagore Dargah was built over the tomb of Sufi saint Shahul Hameed, a mystic saint and Islamic preacher in Tamil Nadu. Hameed was also a 13th-generation descendant of renowned Sufi saint Muhiyudin Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani. His worshippers celebrate the annual 14-day festival Kanduri in honour of his death anniversary.
