The Nilgiris Mountain Railway, often called the Toy Train, is a 120-year-old UNESCO Heritage Site and India’s only rack railway. It has featured in many movies, such as in Dil Se, where the song Chaiyya Chaiyya was shot on the train’s rooftop.

As you travel along the steepest track in Asia, gaze out at the dense forests and foliage, mist-clad hills, diverse fauna and narrow valleys. A ride on this train promises gorgeous panoramic views the entire way along its 5-hour uphill (or 3 hours 30 minutes) journey from Mettupalayam to Ooty.
