Alamparai Fort lies in a little hamlet called Kadapakkam, well-connected and accessible by road. From Chennai, you can take the scenic East Coast Road (ECR) towards Pondicherry and turn off at Kadapakkam to reach the fort. The journey by car is about 100 kms. Alternatively, you can also reach the fort by train with the nearest station being Chennai Egmore, followed by a hired taxi ride to the fort.

Alamparai Fort

Nestled along the serene Coromandel Coast, the quaint Alamparai Fort is a hidden gem that whispers tales of bygone eras. Built in the 17th century in a village called Kadapakkam, the fort offers breathtaking views of the azure Bay of Bengal on the one side and pleasing lush mangroves and fields of Kanchipuram on the other. There are several beaches and places of historical interests close to Alamparai like Sadras with its 17th century fort and ornate graves reminiscing the British and Dutch battle, the covelong beach with its myriad adventure sports, Mamallapuram with its 1500 yr old rock-cut temples that formed the template for temples all across south India. 

Take a sunset stroll after an activity-filled day, along the coast experiencing Tranquebar’s ancient ramparts, those that transform into a perfect movie set for the romantic film-makers, and enjoy tranquil moments by the crumbling arches, soaking in its mystic allure. Don’t miss the sunrise on a boat ride offered by the local fisherfolk in the Kadapakkam village.
